Schaffner

The company, with the headquarter in Luterbach in Switzerland, was founded in 1962 by Hans Schaffner – a specialist for electromagnetic compatibility. The Schaffner Group is the international leader in the development and production of solutions which ensure the efficient and reliable operation of electronic systems. Together with Schaffner, we support our customers with expertise and services in the fields of development consultancy, EMC testing, application support and production.

EMC Filter

Schaffner offers the world’s broadest selection of EMC/EMI filters and chokes. The portfolio starts from small single-phase components and PCB-Mounted filters and reaches up to high power three phase Filters. Standardized and customer-specific solutions – with full engineering support – help to meet international compliance standards and improve the immunity and safety of electrical and electronic equipment.

Active harmonic Filters

Based on the broad knowledge and experience in terms of solutions and applications in power quality the Schaffner Group has developed a new generation of active harmonic filters. The new modular ecosine active sync series offers fitted and economical solutions for the most demanding harmonic mitigation challenges with any kind of non-linear load involved. Ecosine active sync filter series provides a solution concept which is modular, compact and can be used as stand-alone modules or as system solution. The optional sync module offers a smart load Management of the filter’s usage and allows redundancy which guarantees a smart power quality solution in the era of Industry 4.0. Schaffner provides active harmonic filters with excellent performance in solving power quality problems focusing on customer needs and application demands for cleaner and smarter energy.

Typical applications:

Motor drives and various adjustable speed drive systems, such as:
HVAC, Robots, Machinery, Process automation equipment

Passive Harmonic Filters

Schaffner ecosine harmonic filters represent an economical solution to the challenge of load-applied harmonics mitigation in three-phase power systems. With a plug-and-play approach and more compact dimensions than comparable products, they can be quickly installed and easily commissioned. They increase the reliability and service life of electric installations, help utilize electric sytem capacity better, and are the key to meet Power Quality standards such as IEEE 519. Ecosine filters reshape your distorted current back to the desired sinusoidal waveform. Schaffner ecosine filters can be applied to virtually any kind of power electronics with front-end six-pulse rectifiers, 3-phase diode or thyristor bridges, where harmonic current distortion needs to be reduced to defined limits.

Output filters and load reactors

They protect electric drive systems, prevent from expensive equipment downtime and premature motor failure. Dedicated Schaffner products even allow the deployment of unshielded motor cables, the use of multiple motors in parallel on the same drive or the retrofit of modern drives in existing installations with old motors and unshielded cabling
